5 ISIS members killed in Iraqi forces operation

The Iraqi Joint Operations Command announced the killing of five ISIS terrorists and the discovery of four mortars and 38 improvised explosive devices in an operation.

In a statement, a spokesman for the Iraqi Joint Operations Command said that the Iraqi military had killed five surviving members of the ISIS terrorist group in a pre-emptive operation in central Iraq in the Jurf al-Nasr area.

A spokesman for the Iraqi Joint Operations Command said the operation was aimed at strengthening security and stability throughout the country and eradicating the sources of terrorism.

The statement also said that Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces (Hashd al-Shabi) were able to discover and destroy the terrorists’ headquarters in the Al-Safa Valley in Jurf al-Sakhr.

Earlier, Ahmad al-Mahlawi, the governor of the Qa’im city in Iraq’s al-Anbar province, said the remnants of the ISIS terrorist group in the province had a plan to target towers and power transmission lines in al-Qaim city.

In 2017, after three years of fighting, Iraq declared victory over the ISIS terrorist group, but the scattered elements and of this terrorist group are still active in some areas of the provinces of Diyala, Kirkuk, Ninawa, Salah al-Din, Al-Anbar and Baghdad.

Iraqi security forces are working to completely clear these areas of these terrorist elements.
