The Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces organization announced on Tuesday that it was conducting a joint operation with the Iraqi army against the remnants of the ISIS terrorist group in Anbar province.
A statement issued by the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces (Al-Hashd al-Shaabi) on Tuesday night said that the 1st and 2nd Regiments of Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces and the 3rd Regiment of the Iraqi Army today launched a pre-emptive operation to pursue the remnants of the ISIS terrorist group in the al-Anbar province.
The statement added: “In this operation, the areas of Medisis Dam, and some other areas were inspected and cleared.”
Meanwhile, the Iraqi Federal Police Intelligence Unit announced today in a statement the arrest of a terrorist leader in the northwestern province of Ninawa.
In 2017, after three years of fighting, Iraq declared victory over the ISIS terrorist group, but the terrorist scattered elements and cells are still active in some areas of Diyala, Kirkuk, Ninawa, Salah al-Din, Al-Anbar and Baghdad provinces.
Iraqi security forces are operating to completely clear these areas of terrorist elements.
