Iraq: Rejecting Formation of International Force in Gulf

Iraqi Foreign Ministry spokesman, Ahmed Al-Sahaf, said that the security of navigation in the Gulf waterways is the responsibility of the countries bordering it.

In a statement to RT, regarding security in the Arabian Gulf, he said that Iraq put forward its vision, which states that the security of navigation in the Gulf corridors, the responsibility of the countries bordering on it.

Al-Sahaf stressed his country’s refusal to join any international force protecting the waterways in the Gulf if the Israeli occupation entity participates in it. He pointed out that the formation of an international protection force in this region will add more complexity and Iraq will not be a party to it.

He said that this position is based on an Iraqi view that security is equal and indivisible, so everyone should be a contributor to the security of the region from its geographical area.
