White House Efforts in Syria Destined to Failure

irani chief-staffChief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces General Hassan Firouzabadi pointed to Washington’s last-ditch efforts to keep Syria in a status of critical war, and stressed that the White House won’t attain its objectives in the Middle-Eastern country.

“The US is building a house in Syria on the back of wind,” Firouzabadi said on Monday, referring to Washington’s attempts to send more weapons to Syria to save the opposition forces who have many differences and have failed to grow united.

“They won’t reach unity since they have basic differences which will lead them to war and killing if they contact each other,” he added.

Firouzabadi underscored that the terrorists in Syria have merely two options; the first one is surrendering and disarming; the second one is finding a way to escape from the country.

He described as a sheer lie the claims by a US spokesperson that Washington will supply terrorists with weapons which will oblige the Syrian government to sit to the negotiations table, and said such a weapon neither exists nor are the terrorists able to use them.

The Iranian top commander called on the US to leave alone the Syrian nation to decide its own fate, and said, “The United States’ previous interferences in Syria have had no achievements for them, but hatred among the Syrians and other nations.”

Syria has been the scene of deadly violence since March 2011. Over 160,000 people have reportedly been killed and millions displaced due to the crisis.

According to reports, the western powers, headed by the US, and their regional allies – specially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey — are supporting the militants operating inside Syria.

While Washington speaks of sending more arms to the terrorists in Syria, the country is preparing for presidential election due to be held on June 3.
