Ayatullah Khamenei honors memory of martyrs


Ayatullah Syed Ali Khamenei on Wednesday honored memory of martyrs who dedicated their life in defense of the country in 1980s.

He made the remarks at the war fronts of Iraqi imposed war (1980-1988) on southern Iran.


Ayatullah Khamenei advised the youth to proceed with the path of martyrs to help safeguard the country from all types of plots being hatched by the enemies.

He further said that Iranian nation should never forget the era of eight-year sacred defense which was a record of glory for the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the enemies of the Islamic Revolution imposed a devastating war in order to humiliate the Iranian nation and occupy some parts of the country, but to no avail.

“That time, the US, the former Soviet Union and some European countries, the so-called advocates of human rights, were backing the Baathist regime in Iraq in order to bring the Iranian nation to their knees but the sacrifices and firm determination of faithful Iranian nation neutralized the conspiracy.”

Imam Khamenei said that the enemies are constantly masterminding various plots to which the Iranian nation snub.

In reference to systematic military exercises being carried out by the armed forces to boost preparedness to defend the country against possible aggression, the Supreme Leader said that conduct of mental and political warfare would be much more difficult than military confrontation, said the Supreme Leader adding that the brave Iranian nation have proven that they are far-sighted in both fronts.

“With reliance upon excessive patience and endeavor, the Iranian nation should compensate all its shortcomings inherited by years of colonialism and interference of aliens in the country’s affairs.”

The Islamic Republic of Iran with reliance on the pious youth should conquer peaks of success and development in all fields to prove its eligibility at international level, said Ayatollah Khamenei.
