Islamabad administration has removed the khateeb of Lal Masjid and imposed a three-month ban on the entry of former khateeb Abdul Aziz there.
Deputy Commissioner Hamza Shafqaat and Ulema, including Mufti Raees Ayubi from AJK and Qazi Nisar from Gilgit-Baltistan held a meeting.

After that they announced this decision.

Most importantly, the decision came after cancellation of allotment of plot for Jamia Hafsa female seminary. After that cancellation, ex-administrator of Jamia Hafsa Umme Hassam wife of Abdul Aziz along with 80 students came to Lal Masjid.

However, those students currently living on a mosque premises allowed continuing educational activities for three months. There, they started living in eight rooms on the premises of the mosque adjacent to the weekly bazaar and commenced educational activities.

The DC Islamabad requested the Ulema at the meeting to play their role in getting the rooms vacated. And the Ulema played the role of mediators between the capital administration and the former administration of the mosque.

The meeting decided that teachers and students of Jamia Hafsa would continue their educational activities for three months.

However, during this period, the capital administration would resolve the issue of the cancellation of that plot.

When contacted, officers of the capital administration neither confirmed nor denied the development saying so far no notification issued.

However, another official confirmed that the khateeb of the mosque transferred on his own request.

After the development, the capital administration and police reopened the Masjid Road that had remained closed for a few days.
