Cleric escapes unhurt as gunmen attack Jamia Darul Uloom vehicles in Karachi

Known Deobandi religious scholar Mufti Mohammad Taqi Usmani survived an assassination attempt today (Friday) as unidentified gunmen opened fire on two vehicles in Karachi, killing at least one person and injuring three others.

Police said that both cars were targeted on the Nipa flyover.
Karachi police chief Dr Amir Shaikh confirmed that Mutfi Usmani and his wife were in one of the cars targeted. He added that Mufti Usmani remained unhurt in the attack.
Two people were initially reported dead, and two others injured. However, according to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) Director Dr Seemi Jamali, Sanobar Khan, son of Shaukat Khan, had expired en route to the hospital. Another person injured in the attack, cleric Aamir, is currently in critical condition, she added.
He was brought to JPMC with multiple bullet wounds in the head and chest and has been placed on a ventilator, she said.
