Rimdan Border Reopens After One Week, Bilateral Trade Restored

Shiite News: Pakistan has reopened the Gabd-Rimdan border crossing after a one-week suspension, restoring bilateral trade between the two brotherly countries and enabling the movement of stranded trucks carrying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and food items. The President of the Gwadar Chamber of Commerce, terming this decision an immediate relief for traders, expressed the hope that it will end the LPG shortage and lead to a reduction in prices.

Before opening the crossing, the security situation was reviewed and additional personnel were deployed for the protection of trade convoys, because recently unknown armed individuals had set fire to dozens of trucks parked near the closed crossing and damaged several others. This suspension had begun after the Ministry of Commerce withdrew the October 3 order on October 17, as a result of which hundreds of trucks had become stranded on both sides of the border.

Earlier, Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam had clarified that the disruption in border trade between the two countries was not due to a reduction in LPG exports from Iran but due to a change in Pakistan’s E-form procedure.
