Blocking road leading to the shrine of great saint Hazrat Baba Lal Shah Qalandar by Union Council Gahal Chairman evoked stiff protest by the devotees who condemned the PMLN’s biased local council chief over blockade and his threats to the pilgrims.

Annual urs of Baba Lal Shah Qalndar is held every year from July 10 to July 18 in Syedan Soorasi New Murree. On July 14, Umar Satti, chairman, UC Gahal, blocked the road leading from New Murree to the shrine and said he would not allow the devotees to go to the shrine. After exchange of hot words, his hooligans also manhandled the devotees while New Murree police watched all this as a silent spectator.
When custodian of the shrine Naveedul Hasnain Shah and Fazal Hussain Shah were apprised of it, he gave an ultimatum to the relevant officials to ensure opening of the road within half an hour, otherwise he will himself lead the devotees to break the blockade on his own but the relevant officials would be held responsible for any untoward incident in that case. After that, the blockade came to an end.
The custodian of the shrine lodged formal complaint against the Gahal UC Chairman Umar Satti for that incident so that police register case against Satti but police too colluded with Satti and desisted from registering a case against him. Tension prevailed in the area because the culprits are free.
Naveedul Hasnain Shah has complained to the DIG Rawalpindi and SSP to order registration of case and legal proceedings against Umar Satti for his unlawful blockade of road leading to the shrine of Baba Lal Shah Qalandar. Umar Satti is politically a PMLN’s man but his sectarian affiliation is with the banned takfiri terrorist outfit ASWJ.
