Speaker Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly defends ex-army chief Raheel Sharif
Fida Mohammad Nashad, speaker of Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly, has defended former army chief general Raheel Sharif (retired) saying that he is a mujahid (Islamic warrior) and he would not engage in any wrongdoing regarding the Saudi-led military alliance.
“Yeah, General Raheel Sharif has received an offer but he has put conditions that Iran, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon should be included in the alliance,” he said talking to Tasnim News correspondent.
Regarding Gilgit-Baltistan politics, Mr. Nashad further said that, federal government of Pakistan was handed over the demands that Gilgit Baltistan be made fifth province of Pakistan with representation in the Senate and National Assembly of Pakistan.
He said that a committee head by advisor to the Prime Minister, Sartaj Aziz, was formulating recommendations in this regard and the committee recommendations would be referred to the Prime Minister for approval.
