At least 33 teachers and students booked for Youm-e-Hussain in Gilgit

At least 33 teachers and students were named in a false case under anti-terrorism act for their efforts to hold a Youm-e- Hussain programme to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS), the grandson of Hazrat Mohammad, the last apostle of God and Prophet of Islam, in Karakorum International University in Gilgit.

Raids are being conducted to arrest these innocent teachers and students for observance of a religious and cultural event in their alma mater. Strange enough, KIU police station also registered case against more than 500 students who were also mentioned in the FIR as unknown accused.
Delegates from proscribed ASWJ and Islami Jamiat Tulba (IJT) had met the vice chancellor and exerted pressure on him for action against the students and teachers. ASWJ is infamous for its terrorist activities and hate-speeches in all over Pakistan while IJT was emerged as an ally of al-Qaida in the raids conducted on al-Qaida in Pakistan during the tenure of General Pervez Musharraf as ruler of Pakistan.
