Ahl e Sunnat parties support ban on preaching groups

Shiite News: Central President of Jamiat e Ulema Pakistan Peer Ejaz Ahmed Hashmi has welcomed the ban on preaching groups in educational institutions and has stressed the need to revise the syllabuses according to Islam. He said “permitting groups of one sect or religion will cause groups of other sects and religions to confront them, the way it had been happening and causing the spread of extremism”.

While talking to a delegation of Ulema in Lahore Peer Ejaz Hashmi said “preaching group belongs to Deobandi school of thought whereas Dawat e Islami belongs to Barelvi school of thought therefore, it is wrong to say that preaching groups are non-sectarian”. He also pointed out the fact that Dawat e Islami has not been allowed to organize its preaching programs since 2008 whereas on the other hand, the duration of Raiwand’s congregation has increased from 3 to 6 days and special arrangements are being made for that on governmental level”.

“There should not be any foreign interference in educational institutions and the syllabus being taught in schools, colleges and universitites should be according to Islam which will prevent outside interference. If one school of thought is allowed to work then others will also come up and that will raise sectarian sentiments among students and educational institutions need to be free from all such issues”, he further said.
