BRICS Summit Rejects Forced Displacement from Gaza, Demands Israeli Withdrawal from Lebanon

BRICS Summit: Opposition to Forced Displacement from Gaza, Call for Israeli Withdrawal from Lebanon and Implementation of Resolution 1701

Shiite News: The “New Delhi Declaration” was unanimously adopted on the first day of the 18th BRICS Summit held in New Delhi, the capital of India. The declaration strongly rejected any form of forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza and expressed firm support for their legitimate rights, particularly the right to self-determination and the right of return. It also called for respect for the ceasefire in Lebanon and the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory.

BRICS leaders expressed deep concern over the ongoing violence in Gaza, stressing that a just and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict can only be achieved through peaceful means. They condemned all measures that undermine the recognized rights of Palestinians or seek to legitimize occupation. Member states also reaffirmed their commitment to Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, calling on all parties to support an inclusive political process.

Regarding Lebanon, BRICS members welcomed the ceasefire and called on all parties to fully implement United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701. They condemned continued violations of Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and strongly urged Israel to honor the agreements reached with the Lebanese government and immediately withdraw its forces from all remaining occupied Lebanese territories.

The New Delhi Declaration also emphasized the use of diplomatic means to achieve peaceful solutions to other international conflicts, including those in Sudan, Iran and Ukraine, as well as to secure ceasefires and address the root causes of crises.

In addition, BRICS leaders expressed concern over the growing risk of nuclear confrontation and emphasized the importance of global disarmament and the protection of civilian and peaceful nuclear facilities. Member states explicitly opposed unilateral and discriminatory sanctions that are contrary to international law.

The summit, being held on September 12 and 13, is discussing global governance, trade cooperation and regional crises in detail.
