Ayatollah Riyaz Najafi Calls for Making Quran Part of Daily Life

Distance from Holy Quran and Seerah of Ahl al-Bayt Is the Main Cause of Lack of Moral Training in Society: Ayatollah Hafiz Syed Riyaz Hussain Najafi

Shiite News: President of Wifaq-ul-Madaris Al-Shia Pakistan, Ayatollah Hafiz Syed Riyaz Hussain Najafi, said while delivering the Friday sermon at Jamia Masjid Ali, Hawza Ilmiyya Jamia-tul-Muntazir in Model Town, that success in this world and the Hereafter can only be achieved by making the Holy Quran a part of our lives. He said that the Leader of the Prophets, Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his progeny), first convinced people through his noble character and conduct of the importance of honesty and trustworthiness, after which the proclamation of his prophethood took place.

He identified the distance from the Holy Quran and the Seerah of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) as the fundamental reason for the lack of moral and character-building education in society. He said that there are currently 57 Muslim countries and 1.2 billion Muslims around the world, yet Islamic values such as equality, citizens’ rights and welfare systems, including free healthcare and housing, can be seen in European countries. In contrast, 40 percent of the population in Pakistan is forced to live below the poverty line and remains deprived of basic necessities.

Hafiz Riyaz Najafi stressed the importance of practical and legal equality as well as respecting the rights of others. Pointing out the shortcomings of opening shops late and shopping until late at night, he said that such routines negatively affect the family system and peace of mind. The Wifaq-ul-Madaris Al-Shia president also expressed concern that religious seminaries place greater emphasis on academic study than character-building, whereas there is a need to ensure the study of the Holy Quran with translation, regular prayer and adherence to proper timings.
