Mufti Jafar Hussain Rejected Extremism and Emphasized Supremacy of the Constitution: Allama Sajid Ali Naqvi

Shiite News: Leader of the Jafaria community Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi, in his message on the 43rd death anniversary of the late Allama Mufti Jafar Hussain, said that the deceased scholar was a member of the Islamic Teachings Board and among the 31 ulema who formulated the 22 Points.

He said Mufti Jafar Hussain made an exemplary struggle for the rights of the people and resigned from the Ideological Council due to differences with the council.

Allama Sajid Naqvi said that Mufti Jafar Hussain consistently rejected extremism while keeping moderation and unity in view. During the 1960s and 1970s, he remained alongside the national struggle led by the first leader, Allama Syed Muhammad Dehlavi. Concerned about political instability, he also joined the Movement for the Restoration of Democracy (MRD) during the final period of his life.

Allama Sajid Naqvi further said that Mufti Jafar Hussain supported the supremacy of the Constitution and the rule of law in the country. He used to warn that without constitutional and legal supremacy, the country could be destroyed by disruptive elements.

During the period of military rule, a historic protest held under his leadership resulted in the rulers of the time being compelled to assure respect for the equal rights of every citizen.
