Ansar Allah Is an Independent Power, New York Times Acknowledges
Shiite News: The American newspaper The New York Times has warned in an analytical report that it would be inaccurate to view Yemen’s Ansar Allah movement merely as an ally or proxy of Iran. According to the report, its capabilities and strategic position in the Red Sea have made it an important regional and international actor. The newspaper said that while Ansar Allah was considered a secondary force within the regional resistance landscape several years ago, it has now become an actor that cannot be ignored in international conflicts.
According to The New York Times, one of Ansar Allah’s most significant capabilities is Yemen’s geographic and maritime position, which the movement uses as a strategic advantage around the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and the Red Sea. The report says Ansar Allah has its own interests and makes decisions based on those interests. During the Gaza war, it used drones, missiles and unmanned boats in attacks on Israeli-linked shipping, affecting international maritime trade and highlighting the strategic importance of the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The newspaper warned that treating Ansar Allah as a non-independent group could lead to miscalculations in policymaking and said it should be dealt with as an effective regional actor.

The article argues that this assessment reflects what it describes as the failure of Saudi and US policies to prevent the growing strength and autonomy of the “Axis of Resistance,” and portrays Ansar Allah as having emerged as an important strategic player.
