9 Rabi al-Awwal: A Day to Renew the Covenant with Imam al-Zaman, Says Allama Sheikh Muhammad Hassan Jafari
Shiite News: Delivering the Friday sermon at the Central Jamia Mosque in Skardu, Baltistan, Pakistan, Allama Sheikh Muhammad Hassan Jafari offered condolences to Imam al-Zaman on the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hasan al-Askari (peace be upon him). He said that 9 Rabi al-Awwal is a blessed day marking the beginning of the Imamate and ceremonial succession of Imam al-Zaman, may Allah hasten his reappearance. He urged believers to observe the occasion through worship, remembrance of Allah, sending blessings and salutations, and renewing their covenant with the Imam of the Age.
Describing the life and teachings of Imam Hasan al-Askari (peace be upon him) as a practical example for believers, he said that the Imam emphasized piety, truthfulness, honesty, worship, and good character. A true believer, he said, is truthful in both words and actions, trustworthy, and conscious of Allah. He described a person with two faces and two tongues—someone who praises others in their presence but speaks ill of them behind their backs—as among the worst types of people.
The Friday prayer leader also emphasized the importance of repentance after committing sins. He said that people should never lose hope in Allah’s mercy and that remembrance, prayer, prostration, seeking forgiveness, and sincere repentance help protect a person from Satan’s temptations.
Discussing local issues, he said that any form of inappropriate treatment at educational institutions, particularly institutions for female students, is unacceptable. If the complaint concerning the University of Baltistan is found to be true, he called for immediate action against those responsible. He described the establishment of Mishkat University as an important step toward providing girls with a safe and dignified educational environment.

Allama Sheikh Muhammad Hassan Jafari also welcomed the Skardu Sessions Court’s decision to sentence an accused person in a drug-smuggling case to 10 years in prison and a fine of Rs100,000. He said such effective judicial decisions play an important role in protecting the younger generation and emphasized the need for a joint effort by the judiciary, administration, and society to combat drug trafficking.
