MWM Officials Detained Ahead of Arbaeen Preparations; Party Calls Raids a Violation of Constitutional Rights

Shiite News: Preparations for the Arbaeen (Chehlum) procession of Imam Hussain (AS) have reportedly been accompanied by actions against officials of Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) at various locations, which the party has described as deeply concerning.

According to the report, a raid was carried out at the home of Syed Zill-e-Hasnain Naqvi, District President of MWM Mandi Bahauddin. Another late-night raid reportedly took place at the residence of Syed Sajjad Naqvi, Provincial Secretary for Coordination, North Punjab. The report further states that Syed Baqar Ali, President of MWM Malakwal Tehsil, was arrested along with three other party office-bearers.

Syed Fakhar Hasnain Rizvi, Central Secretary of MWM Pakistan’s Legal Azadari Wing and a High Court advocate, said that peaceful mourning ceremonies and constitutional and legal rights are guaranteed to every citizen, adding that such actions create serious public concern.

He called on the relevant authorities to immediately release the detained individuals and ensure the peaceful observance of Arbaeen (Chehlum). He stated that participating in the Arbaeen procession on foot is neither a crime nor should it be treated as one.

The report further alleges that these actions reflect an organized attempt to restrict Azadari in Punjab and describes them as a violation of constitutional rights. These claims are presented as the position of MWM and have not been independently verified.
