Academic Session on “The Genre of Salam in Urdu Poetry” Held at Arts Council Karachi, Ayatollah Aqeel Al-Gharavi Delivers Comprehensive Lecture

Shiite News: An academic session titled “The Genre of Salam in Urdu Poetry” was held at the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, bringing together scholars, writers, and literary enthusiasts.

During the event, distinguished scholar Hujjat al-Islam Syed Aqeel Al-Gharavi delivered a comprehensive, well-reasoned, and thought-provoking lecture on the subject of “The Genre of Salam in Urdu Poetry.”

He highlighted the historical, literary, and intellectual significance of the Salam genre in Urdu literature, discussing its evolution, stylistic features, and its unique role in expressing devotion to the Ahl al-Bayt (AS). Participants described the lecture as highly informative, scholarly, and insightful.

Following the lecture, renowned poet, author, and intellectual Dr. Fatima Hasan escorted Allama Syed Aqeel Al-Gharavi on a visit to the Josh Malihabadi Library at the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi.

During the visit, he was briefed on the library’s remarkable literary collections, including the personal libraries of prominent literary figures such as Mushtaq Ahmad Yousufi, Asif Farrukhi, Professor Mumtaz Hussain, and Ali Ahmad Talpur, which contain valuable and rare books.

Allama Syed Aqeel Al-Gharavi praised the library’s scholarly and literary atmosphere, its collection of rare books, and the efforts of the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi and its President, Muhammad Ahmed Shah, in promoting literature, culture, and intellectual development.

He remarked that institutions like the Arts Council and their dedicated leadership play a vital role in preserving and promoting literary, academic, and cultural heritage. The session and the subsequent library visit proved to be a memorable scholarly and literary experience for all participants.
