Twelve-Year-Old Student Dies After Alleged Assault at Seminary in Lahore

Islamabad: According to the report, a 12-year-old student, Ali Haider, son of Muhammad Aoun and a resident of Bahawalnagar, died after allegedly being subjected to severe physical assault by a teacher at a seminary in the Mian Singh locality on Burki Road, Lahore.

The report states that on June 18, 2026, Ali Haider attended the seminary despite having a fever. When his uncle, Talib Hussain, visited him, he allegedly witnessed the teacher, Qari Ghulam Rasool, beating the child with an iron rod. The assault reportedly stopped after the uncle intervened.

According to the report, the teacher later assured the family that the child would receive medical treatment but instead sent him back to Bahawalnagar by bus. The child was said to have suffered serious injuries.

Ali Haider later died from his injuries, according to the report. Police registered a murder case under Section 302 at Burki Police Station on the complaint of the victim’s family. Authorities are investigating the incident.
