Mourning of Imam Hussain (AS) Represents Unity Among the Muslim Ummah, Foolproof Security Must Be Ensured During Muharram: Allama Mubashir Hassan

Karachi: Speaking at a press conference at Wahdat House Karachi alongside other leaders, Allama Mubashir Hassan, General Secretary of Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen Sindh, said that the mourning of Imam Hussain (AS) is a symbol of unity among the Muslim Ummah. He stated that this mourning tradition has clearly distinguished between Hussaini and Yazidi ideologies throughout history.

He emphasized that foolproof security arrangements should be provided for mourning gatherings and processions during Muharram-ul-Haram to prevent any opportunity for mischief-makers. Installing walk-through gates at entry and exit points of major processions and deploying additional security personnel could significantly reduce security threats. He added that volunteers of Wahdat Scouts across Sindh would work alongside district administrations to help ensure the safety of processions.

Allama Mubashir Hassan also urged the federal and provincial governments to pay special attention to Karachi’s municipal issues. He said that cleanliness along procession routes, road repairs, installation and restoration of streetlights, and uninterrupted electricity supply during the days of mourning are the primary responsibilities of relevant authorities. He criticized K-Electric for a lack of cooperation and demanded that electricity meters traditionally provided for Sabeels be restored.

He further held the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) responsible for Karachi’s decline due to their prolonged governance. Condemning restrictions imposed on moderate scholars and religious speakers in certain districts, he said such measures were aimed at appeasing extremist and sectarian groups.
