Iraqi mobilization forces blast deadly US strikes across Iraq

Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces have strongly condemned a series of deadly strikes conducted by the United States against its bases across various parts of Iraq, describing the attacks as a “blatant violation of Iraq’s sovereignty.”

In a statement on Thursday, Hashd al-Sha’ab, which represents a number of resistance groups, said that its forces are “part of the Iraqi security apparatus and are closely working with armed forces and therefore any attack on them should be dealt as an all-out aggression against the Arab country.”

“The US struck certain units which were not involved in any attack on US forces across the region and were deployed along the border areas to beef up security and maintain stability,” the statement read.

According to the statement, at least 27 people have so far lost their lives and 50 other injured during multiple US aerial raids which were carried out across Diyala, Kirkuk, Anbar, Nineveh, Saladin, Wasit and Babul provinces since early March.

At least nine people were killed and ten other injured on Thursday alone.

Elsewhere in the statement, the mobilization forces said that “all means should be used to stop the ongoing US-Israeli aggression,” which has engulfed the entire region.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei also denounced the latest US strikes on the al-Qaem border crossing, which led to the killing of a number of Iraqi security forces.

He voiced “full support of the Islamic Republic for the Baghdad government and a stable and peaceful Iraq.”

The Iranian spokesman further expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones in the US aggression and prayed for the recovery of the injured.

US troops and military assets have come under attack across Iraq and elsewhere across the region since the US and Israel attacked Iran on February 28 in an unprovoked act of aggression, targeting sites, including schools, hospitals, and sports halls.

Iran has responded with waves of missiles and drones against targets inside the Israeli occupied lands as well as at American bases across the region.

Some regional resistance groups have joined Iran in targeting the US and Israeli military targets across Iraq and other countries across West Asia.

Observers maintain that the Iranian military has dealt serious blows to Israel, the US and its Western and regional allies militarily and economically.
