Shiite News: A high-level Jirga comprising elders and notables of District Kurram, led by Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen Pakistan’s Parliamentary Leader and MNA Engr. Hameed Hussain Turi, met Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi at the Chief Minister’s House, Peshawar.
The Jirga discussed in detail the pressing public, social, and regional issues faced by the people of Kurram.
The Chief Minister announced his visit to District Kurram in the coming week and assured that practical steps would be taken to resolve public grievances and to register and rehabilitate families displaced due to military operations, in line with ground realities.
Engr. Hameed Hussain Turi termed the decision to open the Thall–Parachinar Road, the only main artery of Kurram, for merely two hours a day as deeply unfortunate.
He stressed that Kurram is an integral part of Pakistan, not an occupied territory, and that free movement of citizens is their fundamental constitutional right.
The Chief Minister acknowledged the sufferings of families affected by military operations in Central Kurram and directed relevant authorities to resolve their issues on an emergency basis within one week.
He also announced the allocation of PKR 60 million for youth engagement and positive activities in the merged districts.
Participants unanimously agreed that sectarian unrest in Kurram is part of an enemy agenda and vowed not to let such conspiracies succeed.
They emphasized promoting education, awareness, and dialogue instead of violence to ensure lasting peace and development in the region.
