Sheikh Hamoudi: The path of development opens horizons for strengthening relations between Iraq and Turkey

The head of the Supreme Islamic Council of Iraq, Sheikh Humam Hamoudi, affirmed on Thursday that the path of development will open broader horizons for strengthening the interests and relations between Iraq and Turkey.
The media office of the head of the Islamic Supreme Council stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “Sheikh Humam Hamoudi received Anil Bora Inan, the Turkish ambassador to Baghdad. The meeting focused on discussing the water crisis and ways to cooperate to mitigate its dangerous effects on Iraq. They also discussed preparations for the parliamentary elections, prospects for strengthening relations between the two countries, and the future of the Gaza agreement.”
During the meeting, Sheikh Hamoudi stressed the “need to address the water issue as a humanitarian issue,” noting that “the crisis has become a threat to the lives of society, both humanly and economically.” He also emphasized the “importance of activating the framework agreement between the two countries and considering cooperation in light of it an inseparable part of the frameworks of partnership in the security and trade fields.”
Sheikh Hamoudi welcomed Turkish companies’ investments in developing Iraq’s water infrastructure, expressing his confidence that the path to development will open broader horizons for strengthening the interests and relations between the two countries.
