Shiite News: According to Pakistani media reports, the Iranian Ambassador held a meeting with Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in Lahore on Monday.
The discussions centred on bilateral relations, the regional situation, and enhancing cooperation in energy and trade. Both parties agreed to elevate Pakistan-Iran relations to new heights.
On this occasion, Nawaz Sharif stated that welcoming the Iranian President to Lahore was a pleasant experience. “We want to take relations with Iran to the highest level of improvement.
Our prayers and sympathies were with Iran during the war. We congratulate our Iranian brothers on their victory against Israel,” he said, adding that the personality of Iran’s Supreme Leader is inspiring.
Nawaz Sharif mentioned that Pakistan’s economic situation is improving, by the grace of Allah Almighty. “Unfortunately, in the previous era, relations with neighbours were not good; now we want better relations,” he added.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said the Iranian President’s visit has further boosted mutual partnership. “The sympathy and solidarity of the Iranian people and government reflect a long-standing relationship. We are working to rehabilitate the damages caused by floods in Punjab. The flood caused a lot of damage, however, timely measures helped save thousands of lives,” she stated.
Maryam Nawaz mentioned that Iran fought the war bravely, and Nawaz Sharif kept asking us to pray for Iran. “During my education, I also specifically studied the Persian language subject,” she recalled.
The Iranian Ambassador said the mutual relations between Iran and Pakistan are impressive. “The Iranian government and people are thankful for the full support of the Pakistani leadership and people. Economic, trade, and cultural relations with Pakistan are growing stronger every day,” the envoy said.
The Ambassador further announced that Iqbal Day will be celebrated in Iran on November 9. “Iranian musical bands will also visit Pakistan. We request that the Persian language be further promoted in universities in Punjab,” the envoy added.
