Shiite News: The Punjab government is being accused of imposing restrictions on religious freedom and targeting mourners of Imam Hussain (A.S.) during Arbaeen.

According to FIR No. 2681/25 filed at Khushab Sadar Police Station, police have registered cases against Zakireen, Khateebs, and multiple mourners on the pretext of using loudspeakers, exceeding permitted timings, and alleged violations of the “code of conduct” during processions and gatherings held between 1st and 30th Muharram.
The FIR invokes Sections 341, 188, and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code, the Punjab Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance 1960, and the Punjab Sound Systems (Regulation) Act 2015.

Based on the report of HC/790 Muhammad Yousaf, speeches delivered in different neighborhoods and the use of sound systems during Majalis and processions were declared as “violations,” leading to action against dozens of nominated individuals.
Shia mourners have condemned the move as an attack on religious freedom and a biased attempt to suppress Azadari of Sayyid al-Shuhada (A.S.).
Religious and social leaders stated that Azadari is a fundamental religious right guaranteed under the Constitution of Pakistan, and criminalizing the moderate use of loudspeakers during Arbaeen is unacceptable harassment of the Shia community.

They demanded immediate withdrawal of the cases, an end to unjust restrictions, and a transparent, unbiased mechanism to facilitate Majalis and processions.
