Palestinian Pilgrims visit Imam Hussain’s Shrine, Exposing Imperialist-Aligned Clerics
Shiite News: Today, the presence of Palestinian pilgrims at the holy shrine of Imam Hussain (A.S.) symbolized the living spirit of Hussainiyat—raising one’s voice for the oppressed and resisting tyranny.
Imam Hussain (A.S.) remains a sanctuary for the oppressed of every era, and his gatherings are meant to amplify the call for justice, which is the essence of his sacrifice.
This powerful gesture comes in stark contrast to the recent controversial statements made by certain clerics, who discouraged slogans like “Long live Hussainiyat, death to Yazidiyat”, discouraged prayers for Palestinians, opposed raising the Palestinian cause in Majalis, and even claimed Palestinian flags near mourning processions would defile them.
Some went so far as to justify consuming products from companies supporting Israel.
Such remarks, critics argue, contradict the true message of Imam Hussain (A.S.), who gave his life for the defense of justice and the oppressed.
The attendance of Palestinian pilgrims in Karbala has been widely interpreted as a practical rebuttal to these deviating positions.
It highlighted that Hussain’s legacy is not about empty rituals or political compromises but about standing with the oppressed and resisting tyranny in every age.
In essence, the message of Arbaeen is clear: true Hussainiyat is recognized through action in support of the oppressed—not through the imperialist-driven rhetoric of compromised clerics.
However, some scholars had said in recent statements:
“Long live Hussainiyyat and long live Yazidiyyat”, should not be chanted, it smells of politics. (Maulana Abu Talib Tabataba’i)
Do not recite Fatiha for the Palestinians. (Maulana Asad Shakari)
Do not mention the oppression of the Palestinians in gatherings. (Maulana Kumail Mahdavi)
Do not bring the Palestinian flag near the mourning procession, the procession becomes impure. (Maulana Abu Talib Tabataba’i Domain)
The Palestinians are enemies of the Shiites. (Maulana Shahryar Abidi)
Eat burgers and chicken from companies that support Israel and feed me too. (Maulana Asad Shakari)
These statements are completely opposite to the true message of Imam Hussain (AS), because Imam Hussain (AS) shed his blood to stand against oppression and support the oppressed.
