The peaceful environment of Gilgit-Baltistan cannot tolerate political hatred, SUC Gilgit
Shiite News: General Secretary of Shia Ulema Council Gilgit District Sheikh Ali Muhammad Abidi has said in a statement that the press release of Advisor to the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan Maulana Muhammad Deen issued on April 19, 2025 is not just a statement but a serious question on the political and social environment of Gilgit-Baltistan.
He said that the identity of this region is peaceful coexistence, religious tolerance and collective consciousness.
In such a situation, a sharp, personal and impolite conversation by a government representative is not only regrettable but also has the potential to damage the sensitive atmosphere of the region.
He raised the question that our question to the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan is whether this press release of the advisor was issued with your approval?
If yes, then it is a question mark on the style of governance that a government is addressing its people in a manner that is fueling hatred, division and incitement.
And if this statement was issued without your permission or knowledge, then it is your responsibility to immediately dismiss such frivolous and incompetent advisors so that the public’s trust in the good name, transparency and seriousness of the government remains intact.
He said that the language used by the advisor against a respected, serious and dignified religious scholar like Khatib Jamia Masjid Imamia Gilgit Agha Syed Rahat Hussain Al-Hussaini is contrary to the civilized political and social culture of Gilgit-Baltistan.
His words clearly show that he considers differences of opinion as personal attacks and considers it appropriate to respond to serious criticism by going beyond the realm of ethics.
He said that it is the constitutional, moral and social right of every conscious citizen, especially scholars, to criticize and question government policies.
If the government’s policies are truly based on public interest, then the public should be satisfied, and not by trying to silence them by making accusations.
Sheikh Ali Muhammad Abidi said that the advisor’s statement that “religion should be kept separate from politics” is not only a sign of intellectual misguidance but also a deviation from the ideological foundation of this nation.
Pakistan was founded in the name of the sacred word “La ilaha illallah”, and the survival of this country is possible only when religion and politics are harmoniously integrated.
