Iraq is with the Syrians aspirations for a government preserving the people’s unity, Al-Araji

xNational Security Adviser, Qasim Al-Araji, confirmed on Monday that the Iraqi position is with the aspirations of the Syrian people for a government that preserves the unity of the people.

Al-Araji received in his office the British Ambassador to Baghdad, Stephen Hickey, according to a statement by the media office of the National Security Adviser – received by the Iraqi News Agency – INA.

During the meeting, they discussed the rapid developments in the Syrian arena and their impact on the security of the region and the security of Iraq.

Araji stressed the position of the Iraqi government regarding what is happening in Syria, saying “Iraq is monitoring the current events in Syria. The Iraqi position is with the aspirations of the Syrian people for a comprehensive, inclusive government that preserves the unity of the people and the Syrian lands.”

The statement added, “The meeting witnessed the discussion of the Al-Hol camp file, and the return of all Iraqis present in the prisons of the SDF.”
