Afghan Taliban holds talks in Iran

A delegation from the Afghan Taliban’s Qatar-based political office is in Tehran for talks, Iranian media reported on Tuesday.

The visitors led by Tayyab Agha, head of the political bureau, met Iranian security officials and discussed regional issues, “particularly developments in the Islamic world”, Tasnim news agency said.

It is the third time the Taliban have sent officials to Iran for such talks, said the report, which was also cited by Iran’s official news agency, noting that the issue of Afghan refugees was also considered.
