Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen (MWM) Pakistan Foreign Affairs Secretary Dr. Syed Shafqat Hussain Shirazi met with important Iraqi political, religious and diplomatic figures and apprised them of the hardships of Pakistani pilgrims who want to travel by road.

He met with the head of Iraq’s popular parliamentary party Jamaat-ul-Hikmah, Syed Ammar Hakeem and the parliamentary leadership of Majlis-e-Ala Islami and demanded to open the border for Pakistani pilgrims.

He told the Iraqi leaders that millions of pilgrims from Pakistan come to Iraq every year travelling by road. Their only passage from Iran is the Iraqi border, which has not been opened for Pakistani pilgrims so far.

He demanded the Iraqi leaders that it is a Shari’a and legal requirement to facilitate the affairs of pilgrims and it should be paid immediately so that millions of Pakistani lovers of Muhammad and Ahl al-Bayt Muhammad (A.S) can visit the shrine of Sayyid al-Shohada Imam Hussain A.S.

Shirazi also contacted the Iraqi ambassador posted in Pakistan and informed him of the difficulties faced during the pilgrimage and demanded the Iraqi government to solve these problems.

Office of Hazrat Ayatollah Hafiz Bashir Hussain said that the ‘Marjaeyat’ is always trying to solve all the problems of pilgrims including the border issues.
