OPEC president, head of Board of Governors appointed

Congolese Minister of Petroleum was elected as the Chairman of the OPEC conference; the Iraqi Representative to the OPEC Board of Governors was appointed as the Chairman of the board in 2022.

The 182nd meeting of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) began virtually with the ministers of oil and energy of the member states in attendance.

In the meeting, members of the body appointed H.E HE Bruno Jean-Richard Itoua as the President of the OPEC conference, and Alaa K. Alyasri from Iraq was elected by the OPEC Board of Governors as the President of the board in 2022.

The basis for the election of chairpersons and the board of directors is the letters of the alphabet, and before Diamantino Pedro Azevedo, Minister of Mineral Resources and Petroleum, Republic of Angola, chaired the periodic meetings of OPEC and Amir Hossein Zamaninia, the chairman of the OPEC Board of Governors.
