Yemeni Army Launches Attacks on Saudi Positions in Jizan, Asir

The Yemeni army and popular committees targeted the positions of Saudi-led coalition forces in Saudi Arabia’s southwestern regions of Jizan and Asir with missiles and rockets, local media reports said.

A security source said the artillery unit of the Yemeni army and popular committees targeted Saudi military posts in several districts, including al-Dokhan and al-Qarn, in Jizan.

The Yemeni forces also hit gatherings of the Saudi-led coalition forces in Alib and eastern al-Raboah in Asir Region.

In the attacks, the Yemeni forces managed to kill and injure several Saudi forces and mercenaries, according to the report.

The forces of the Arabian Peninsula country have already hit Saudi positions with various homegrown ballistic missiles, including “Qaher-1”, which has a range of 500 kilometers, and “Borkan-1”.

The solid propellant and Scud-type Borkan-1 missile reportedly has a range of more than 800 kilometers.

The missile attacks are in response to the aggression by Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies that has continued since March 2015.

The Saudi-led coalition has carried out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement for nearly two years in an attempt to restore power to the fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

Some 11,000 Yemenis, including thousands of women and children, have lost their lives in the deadly military campaign.
