Saudi Air Raids Severely Damage 12 Historic Landmarks in Yemen

Saudi air raids on Yemen have severely damaged 12 historic sites and cities, Yemen’s general authority for antiques and museums said.

Head of the General Authority for Antiques and Museums Muhanad al-Siani said 12 historic landmarks, including 4 ancient cities and Imam Hadi (A.S) mosque, were damaged during the Saudi air assaults on the impoverished country according to initial reports, the Arabic-language Sam Press reported.

Al-Siani added that there are more historic sites that have been damaged in the air strikes but have not been officially reported.

He also called on the international organizations to force Saudi Arabia to stop targeting Yemen’s cultural heritage.

Saudi Arabia launched its bombing campaign against Yemen on March 26 in an attempt to restore power to fugitive President Mansour Hadi, a staunch ally of Riyadh.

Hadi stepped down in January and refused to reconsider the decision despite calls by Ansarullah revolutionaries of the Houthi movement.

Despite Riyadh’s claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi warplanes are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.

The Monarchy’s attacks have so far claimed the lives of at least 3,812 civilians, mostly women and children, according to FNA’s independent tally.
