Saudi-UAE conflict over a Yemeni city to reach Bab-el-Nabdeb
An escalation between the factions loyal to the Saudi-UAE Coalition in al-Turbah and al-Hajariya cities southwest of Taiz, central Yemen, is to control strategic area near the coast and Bab el-Mandeb strait.
According to al-Alam TV, the confrontations renewed at the entrances to the city and its mountainous and rural surroundings between the militias supported by the Saudi-backed Islah, and the militias of Abu al-Abbas and Tariq Afash supported by UAE.
“Fighting in al-Turbah and al-Hajariya is still continuing. In addition, these warring factions are targeting the demonstrators and all those who reject fighting in their residential neighborhoods,” Journalist and human rights activist Fadhl al-Barti said.
Al-Hajariya in the west of Taiz witnesses massive popular and official moves to support the Popular Committees-backed Yemeni troops against Saudi-UAE occupation.
“Strategic location of al-Turbah district in particular and al-Hajariya in general made it the place of the enemy’s ambitions. It represents a strategic depth for the West Coast and Bab el-Mandeb strait,” Taiz Security Director of Taiz province Brigadier Hassan Ali Hussein told al-Alam TV.
While the chaos and conflict fueled by the Saudi-led Coalition, the popular coherence to support the army and the Popular Committees (Houthis) increases.
