Egypt Should Not Stand in the Same Trench as Takfiris and the Usurping Zionists Against Yemen: Yemeni Parliament Speaker

Shiite News: Speaker of the Yemeni Parliament Sheikh Yahya Ali Al-Rai has sent an urgent letter to the Speaker of the Egyptian Parliament Hisham Badawi, in which he expressed concern over reports that, at the request of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, an emergency session of the Egyptian Parliament is being convened to grant him authority for measures to defend the Saudi regime.

Yahya Ali Al-Rai said in his letter that we view with deep concern every trend that could entangle Egypt in military activities serving the Saudi regime’s policies in Yemen. He said that it is the Saudi regime itself that has imposed aggression and siege on Yemen for more than twelve years, the same regime that fled from implementing the roadmap and sabotaged political understandings, and even tightened the siege on the Yemeni people to such an extent that some areas reached the brink of famine.

The Yemeni Parliament Speaker said that it is the Saudi regime that is continuously fueling escalation and targeting basic and civilian infrastructure, including bombing Sanaa Airport, while it is also involved in supporting and financially aiding ISIS and other takfiri groups against the Yemeni people. He said that the demands of the Yemeni nation are clear and just, including the immediate end of aggression, the termination of the cruel siege, and respect for Yemen’s sovereignty.

Yahya Ali Al-Rai said that we absolutely reject pushing Egypt into a war that does not correspond with its values, and Egypt should not stand in the same trench as takfiri forces and the usurping Zionist state in war and aggression against Yemen. He warned that walking this path would first and foremost be a serious threat to Egypt’s own national security and internal stability.

It is noteworthy that the Egyptian Parliament has convened a session today, Sunday, at the request of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, in which granting the Egyptian President authority to defend Saudi Arabia, in the event of a request from Saudi Arabia, will be considered.
