Pakistan will eradicate terrorism form its land: Army Chief

Islamabad: Pakistan’s Army Chief General Raheel Sharif, who is on a five day official visit to the US, met with United States Defense Secretary Ashton Carter at Pentagon on Tuesday and discussed the bilateral defense relations of the two countries and the regional security situation.

DG Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt Gen Asim Bajwa told about General Raheel’s visit through his Tweets on Tuesday.

The US defense secretary, in the meeting, appreciated Pakistan’s contribution and sacrifices in fighting the war on terror and also acknowledged effects of successful counter-terrorism operations.

“US will play its part and fully support any effort of Pakistan in fighting terrorism and extremism in any way,” the US defense secretary said. He also said that the US and Pakistan will continue to operate in a coordinated manner against this global menace of terrorism and extremism.

Army Chief Gen Raheel highlighted Pakistan’s perspective of regional challenges during the meeting and reiterated that Pakistan was resolved to eliminate terrorism and extremism from its soil for good.
