US pounds Daesh positions 30 times in Iraq, Syria: Pentagon
The US-led military coalition has bombarded the Daesh (ISIL) terrorist group’s positions in Iraq and Syria 30 times, according to a Pentagon statement.
The Takfiri group’s tactical units and fighting positions near the Iraqi cities of Tuz, Ramadi, Mosul and Fallujah were some of the targets that were hit in 27 air strikes that destroyed vehicles, buildings and weapons belonging to the terrorist group, the Combined Joint Task Force said in the statement released on Friday.
Additionally, three air strikes were also carried out in Syria, two of which targeted Daesh positions near Al Hawl, in Hasakah, while one strike destroyed two “excavators” near the ancient city of Palmyra, the statement said.
The US and its allies have been conducting air strikes on the Takfiri militants, who have parts of Syria and neighboring Iraq under control, since last summer.
In August, the CIA, the US Defense Intelligence Agency and other intelligence agencies, assessed that despite spending billions of dollars and allegedly killing more than 10,000 militants, the terrorist group remains a well-funded terror network, capable of replenishing its ranks with foreign fighters as quickly as the US can eradicate them.
Analysts accuse Washington and its allies of claiming to fight militant groups like Daesh, while in reality they helped create and train those organizations to wreak havoc in Muslim countries.
The Takfiri group uses a campaign of terror that includes a wide range of atrocities such as gruesome tortures, summary executions, and shockingly inventive methods to kill.
