Guterres appreciates Iran & Pakistan’s generosity towards Afghans

United Nations Secretary-General said that Iran and Pakistan have shown unforgettable generosity in hosting millions of Afghans.

Iran has always welcomed Afghan refugees in the country, despite the economic problems and the lack of cooperation of responsible international institutions. In addition, the onset of the cold season has accelerated the delivery of Iran’s humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.

Speaking at a Security Council debate on Afghanistan earlier this week, Antonio Guterres said: “I will never forget the generosity of countries like Iran and, which – for decades – have hosted millions of Afghans in need.”

“At this moment, we need the global community – and this council – to put their hands on the wheel of progress, provide resources, and prevent Afghanistan from spiraling any further,” he added.
