Blinken Calls Ashkenazi, Says Two-State Option “Best Way to Ensure Israel Future”

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken told his Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi on Monday that the so-called two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict was best for the ‘future’ of the Zionist entity, the US State Department said.

In a call with Ashkenazi, Blinken “emphasized the Biden administration’s belief that the two-state solution is the best way to ensure Israel’s future as a Jewish and democratic state, living in peace alongside a viable and democratic Palestinian state,” the US State Department said.

The two officials also discussed “regional security issues” and “the importance of continued cooperation to resolve these issues,” according to the statement.

Blinken “touched on the US approach to a more peaceful, secure and prosperous future for Israelis, Palestinians and the greater Middle East,” the statement said.

They “recognized the unshakeable partnership between the United States and Israel” and “the fact that the two countries would work closely together on future challenges to come,” according to the State Department.
