On 30 May 2012, the Saudi Wahhabi authorities cut off the electricity from a Shi’a mosque in al-Jiser district in al-Khobar city which forced prayers to perform pray in an intense heat and humidity.

The mentioned mosque is annexed to the house of the prominent Shi’a figure, Abdullah Salih al-Mohana, the former mayor of al-Khobar city in Al-Ahsa.

It is worth to mention that the authorities arrested al-Mohana in 2010 because he was preparing for prayer in his mosque and refused to sign documents declaring he would never open his mosque.

Al-Jiser mosque is one of three Shia mosques which is closed down by authorities under the pretext that it was established without an official license. The prayer leader of the mosque, Sayyid Hashim Ali al-Naser, was arrested.
