Saudi Wahhabis Released Sheikh al-Baqshi After Three Days in Custody

Sheikh-al-BaqshiOn November 20 , 2010, Saudi Wahhabi authorities released the Shi’a religious scholar Sheikh Hassan al-Baqshi from Al-Hofouf town in al-Ahsa , after detaining him for three days .

Sheikh al-Baqshi was arrested due to controversy with Mutawwa’in (religious police, who make up the Committee to Promote Virtue and Prevent Vice) and rigorous religious vigilantes when they banned him to perform prayers at the Place of Abraham (Muqaam Ibrahim), a site  inside the mosque that is inside Kaaba during the pilgrimage rituals.

Witnesses said that Al-Baqshi was exposed to assault and battering on the hands of members of Mutawwa’in and rigorous religious vigilantes .

Sheikh al-Baqshi was transformed to the police center after his faint to exercise to long investigation .

Many female pilgrims , who came with al-Baqshi’s caravan to perform pilgrimage , felt with fright when they saw the bad condition of the caravan leader (Al-Baqshi)  .

The authorities released al-Baqshi after due to great efforts on his behalf from the prominent Shi’a clerics , as Sayed Hashim al-Salman , Shaikh Tawfiq Al-Amer and Shaikh Mosa Bo Khamseen .
