Saudi Arabia Deeply Shocked and Disappointed After Failing to Secure US Support Against Yemen

Shiite News: The New York Times has reported that Saudi Arabia is currently facing severe shock and disappointment after failing to secure US military support against Yemen. According to the report, Riyadh finds itself trapped in an extremely difficult situation amid regional tensions and Saudi officials are now being forced to assess the limited options available to them.

The New York Times further reported that after President Trump rejected Saudi Arabia’s request for military assistance, Riyadh was left facing what it considers the worst possible scenario. In recent weeks, Yemeni forces have reportedly targeted Saudi installations several times and openly threatened to limit Saudi Arabia’s ability to export oil. Michael Ratney, a former US ambassador to Saudi Arabia, said Saudi officials have become genuinely frustrated and discouraged by what he described as Trump’s lack of interest in taking action against Yemeni forces.

Meanwhile, Yemen’s Deputy Minister of Information, Mohammed Mansour, said that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s attempts to seek assistance from President Trump, the Prime Minister of Pakistan and Egypt, as well as his meeting with the commander of US Central Command, demonstrate Yemen’s major success and the depth of the crisis facing Riyadh.

He said Yemen’s strategic achievements are extremely significant at both the military and political levels and have caused Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates losses amounting to tens of billions of dollars.

Mohammed Mansour further stated that political and media circles within the Israeli government were also deeply shocked by Yemen’s reported achievements. He described Trump’s rejection of Mohammed bin Salman’s request for intervention in Yemen as a major blow to Riyadh. He added that Pakistan and Türkiye had also failed to adopt a position in line with Saudi Arabia’s expectations, while Egypt’s military was not prepared to become entangled in what he described as the “Yemeni quagmire.”
