Israeli strike kills 3 Palestinians in south Gaza
At least three Palestinians have been killed in a fresh Israeli airstrike on the Gaza Strip as the wave of aggression on the besieged Palestinian enclave continues unabated.
Spokesman of Gaza’s Ministry of Health Ashraf al-Qidra said the airborne attack took place in southern city of Khan Yunis on Tuesday.
The Islamic Jihad said in a statement that the three killed were members of the movement, and an Israeli assassination drone targeted them as they “resisted an Israeli military incursion” into the city of Rafah, situated 30 kilometers (19 miles) south of Gaza City.
On March 3, one Palestinian was killed and three others injured in an Israeli airstrike on the northern Gaza Strip.
The incident took place after an Israeli unmanned aerial vehicle fired at least one missile at a group of men in the city of Beit Hanoun on the northeast edge of the Gaza Strip.
On February 28, an Israeli drone struck a farmland near Beit Hanoun. The attack took place right after a Palestinian was shot and injured by Israeli troops in the east of Beit Lahia in northern Gaza.
Gaza has been blockaded since June 2007, which is a situation that has caused a decline in the standard of living, unprecedented levels of unemployment, and unrelenting poverty.
The apartheid regime of Israel denies about 1.7 million people in Gaza their basic rights, such as freedom of movement, jobs that pay proper wages, and adequate healthcare and education.
According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, joblessness in the Gaza Strip jumped to 38.5 percent at the end of last year from 32 percent in the third quarter of 2013.
