ploThe Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) and resistance factions reiterated their rejection of interfering in Syria’s internal affairs and involving Palestinians in the Syrian crisis, stressing the need to keep Palestinian camps neutral, secure and free of weapons and gunmen and the need to maintain the struggle to liberate Palestine and Jerusalem and confront Israel.

In an initiative launched by the Palestinian ambassador in Syria Mahmoud al-Khalidi at the end of a meeting on Sunday, the factions called for ending the crisis in all Palestinian camps and for gunmen to exist them in order to keep them secure, thus allowing displaced people to return to their homes and facilitate movement of individuals and supplies from and into camps.

The factions called for working with the relevant authorities to restore electricity, water, communications and other utilities and services in the camps, in addition to settling the status of gunmen who wish to leave the camps and releasing detainees who were proven to be uninvolved in the events.

This initiative was based on developments resulting from gunmen entering some camps and displacing thousands of Palestinians who were living there, transforming them into insecure areas devoid of services, in addition to claiming the lives of dozens of civilians.
