Newspapers Review: Nakba Day Events Focus of Dailies

nakbaThe three Palestinian Arabic dailies Thursday highlighted the events organized to commemorate the 65th anniversary of nakba and clashes with Israeli forces during demonstrations.

Al-Ayyam headline read: “Nakba 65: Demonstrations, clashes and arrests in Jerusalem.”
Al-Hayat al-Jadida reported on the confrontations that erupted in Jerusalem after Israeli police attempted to suppress demonstrations commemorating Nakba Day.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida printed a photo of a Palestinian youth with a red bruised face surrounded by Israeli soldiers who were attempting to arrest him while he is struggling to get free.
The three dailies printed photos of hundreds of Palestinians carrying the symbolic key of return during demonstrations and protests across the West Bank.
Al-Quds featured Hamas leader Khalid Meshaal saying that Hamas is neither bloodthirsty nor anti-Semitic.
It reported on Jordanian government officially announcing the departure of the Israeli ambassador along with calls on Israel to stop the systemic assaults of holy places in Jerusalem.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida reported on unidentified gunmen firing at a demonstration in Damascus to commemorate Nakba Day, resulting in the death of tens of Palestinian refugees.
