Al-Zahar: Further Cooperation between Hamas, Islamic Jihad to Strengthen Resistance

Mahmoud al-Zahar, a senior official of the Palestinian Hamas Movement, stressed that bolstered cooperation between Hamas and Islamic Jihad Movements is a necessity for strengthening the resistance front.

“Cooperation between the Islamic Jihad and Hamas is an Islamic necessity for strengthening the resistance,” al-Zahar said.

He also felicitated the Islamic Jihad Movement on the anniversary of its establishment, and said due to the fact that the Movement’s political thoughts are developing and moving ahead, it will enjoy high influence in future.

Al-Zahar had also earlier this year said that merging Hamas and Islamic Jihad, the main Palestinian Islamic resistance movements, is a political and religious must.

“Religion, politics and political developments in our surrounding necessitate closeness of Islamic movements,” Al Zahar stated in January.

He said that integration of the two Palestinian movements in a single organizational structure can resolve many problems, including those related to elections since both groups can now take part in the elections in a single framework.
