498 Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences in Israeli jails
Number of Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences in Israeli jails has been increased to reach 498 after Israeli authorities sentenced the prisoner Khaled Kutina to life in prison. The researcher in prisoners’ affairs Riyad al-Ashqar said that three Palestinians were sentenced to life term imprisonment since the beginning of 2017, most recently was the Jerusalemite prisoner Khaled Kutina. Khalid Kutina, a resident of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of occupied Jerusalem, was sentenced to live in prison and ordered to pay a fine of 516,000 shekels. Kutina, a father of an infant, was arrested on April 15, 2015 for killing an Israeli settler and injuring another in an alleged car-ramming attack in the occupied city of Jerusalem. Al-Ashqar pointed out that the two Palestinian prisoners Mohamed Abu Shahin, 30, and Abduallah Ishaq were also sentenced to life term imprisonment for alleged anti-occupation attacks.
