Final Solution to the Palestine Issue Lies in Resistance and a Popular Referendum, Say Scholars in Joint Declaration

Shiite News: An important international conference titled “The Solution to the Palestine Issue” was held in Tehran under the auspices of the World Assembly for Islamic Awakening, bringing together prominent religious scholars and intellectuals from various countries. Speakers unanimously emphasized that holding a referendum based on the will of the Palestinian people is the key to ensuring lasting peace in the region, while Islamic countries have a duty to provide comprehensive and practical support for Palestinian resistance.

Ayatollah Mohammad Hassan Akhtari, head of the Supreme Council of the Ahl al-Bayt World Assembly, and other leaders stated that holding elections and a referendum in Palestine represents a principled and logical solution and the best way to put an end to what they described as the serious crimes of the occupying Zionist regime. The speakers stressed that so-called plans proposed by the United States cannot serve the interests of Palestinians, arguing that the genuine solution to the Palestine issue lies in resistance, which they said could compel the adversary to accept the will of the people.

During the conference, representatives from Lebanon, Yemen and other countries said that Iran has consistently defended Palestine, but that the heavy responsibility of implementing a referendum cannot be placed on Iran alone. They called on other Islamic countries to play a more active role as well. Yemeni representatives stated that, despite the harshest sanctions, supporting Palestine remains Yemen’s highest priority, while some regional countries still fail to fully recognize the seriousness of the threats posed by Israel and the United States.

The scholars expressed deep concern that the Muslim world is currently facing a critical test, while several Muslim rulers have forgotten their fundamental responsibilities and become preoccupied with worldly affairs. They called on scholars and people throughout the Muslim world to unite and take action, urging them to provide every possible form of assistance within their means to Palestinians fighting for liberation against the Israeli occupation.
