Israeli forces kill Palestinian worker near Hebron
Israeli forces and settlers opened fire on vehicles carrying Palestinian workers near Hebron in the occupied West Bank, resulting in one death and at least eight injuries.
The Palestine Red Crescent Society provided medical aid to three injured individuals, including one wounded by live fire. The chase and live gunfire resulted in vehicles overturning in the mountains of Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, according to WAFA news agency.
Since October 2023, Israeli authorities have revoked thousands of work permits for Palestinians, leading workers to seek employment inside Israel “illegally,” risking arrest and possible fines.
Osama Makhamreh, a local activist, told WAFA that the chase happened between Umm Al-Khair and Khirbet Fateh Sidra in Masafer Yatta. The victim has been identified as 31-year-old Yusri Abu Qbeita.
Israeli forces blocked locals and volunteers from searching for the missing and injured while firing live bullets at them, WAFA added.
Last week, Israeli soldiers shot at a car carrying a Palestinian family in Tammun in the northern West Bank, resulting in the deaths of four people, including two children.
Based on figures from the Palestinian health ministry, French news agency Agence France-Presse reported that Israeli forces and settlers have killed at least 1,045 Palestinians in the West Bank, some of them militants, since the start of the Gaza war in October 2023.
Official Israeli figures indicate that 45 Israelis, including soldiers and civilians, have been killed in Palestinian attacks or during military operations.
